The Ohio County Sheriff’s Department is warning today about a new scheme designed to get into your wallet. According to the sheriff, some people have reported that they have received calls from someone who alleges to be a law enforcement officer, and they are told that the police have an active arrest warrant out for them, and they must make a payment immediately to avoid their arrest. The sheriff and area law enforcement officers all say none of them would ever ask for money to avoid arrest, and they most likely would not call to notify anyone that there was a warrant out for their arrest. If you get such a call, ignore it. Do not make any payments, but DO call police or the sheriff’s department and report it.
